H&R Block & Etsy Listings (brought to you by the number 28)

H&R Block

As some of you may know I was hired to work as a receptionist at one of my local H&R Block locations (I officially start tomorrow!). So far, I am loving the personal interactions I have had with all the people I have met at H&R Block. Last month I had two days of training, this month there was a dress rehearsal last Thursday, and this past Saturday we had an open house which was really more training.

I have never been to an H&R Block before and when I tried to do a bit of research online most of what I saw were very negative reviews of people’s experiences at one of their offices, which, in my opinion, is typical of most businesses to receive more negative than positive reviews. People with sour experiences will be the majority of people leaving reviews as opposed to people with great to regular experiences.

For the past two days I have been putting in a few extra hours making many phone calls to invite prior H&R Block clients back. Though it is an easy job by the time I get home I am exhausted! Sorry if the majority of my tweets have been about my Etsy store but that is all I have time for right now. I have even neglected my Facebook page a little. Oops. :)

And speaking of Etsy… :P

This Week’s Etsy Listings

Another tan braided suede cord bracelet but this one is shorter than last week’s double-wrap bracelet. It is a simple bracelet that can be combined with other bracelets or you can just wear this one and keep your outfit simple and casual. I feel like the pictures make it look darker than it is. What do you guys think of it?

This next bracelet features a serpentine stone bead and black braided suede cord. I really love the serpentine stone. I had never seen one before but when I saw it I knew I had to use it! I like how it is asymmetrical and so organic looking.

As with many of my newer items I have created, I keep saying to myself, “Wow, this is my new favorite!” Same with this next bracelet. I love the blue color of the glass pearl beads. On the packaging it says the color is teal but it does not look all that teal to me. The color reminds me of a perfect deep blue ocean. I personally hand-formed each of the wire posts that connect each bead to the bracelet. I am getting better at wire bending each time I do it and learn and experiment with different techniques on my own through online research. I think I spent at least an hour and a half or so just on the wire posts which is not good for my nails. ;)

The next item is a jewelry set I created, a necklace and stud earrings, with a hibiscus shaped shell pendant which I embellished with a vintage button from the lot that I received from Travis’ mom and two stud earrings made with the same cute white vintage buttons that have a rhinestone on them.

This ring matches the necklace and earring set above but I did not pair them together because I did not think most women want or wear “matchy-matchy” jewelry. And I really like the ring all by itself because it is really pretty.

I found this tiger’s eye stone bead in a mixed bag of buttons and beads from a craft store. I love buying mixed bags because you never know what you are going to get and it helps me get my creative juices flowing to come up with a new item. So I saw this tiger’s eye stone bead and at first was going to make a bracelet out of it similar to the serpentine one but it was not really working out since the bead hole was mostly to one side of the bead, I am going to call it the top. I am not sure how the pendant idea came to me, really. I think I just played around with ideas in my head until something clicked and once I know what I am making it is easier to put together. The tan suede cord came in a set with other colors that I have had for years. Until recently, I had no idea what to make out of them but now I am running out of material! That is a good thing but now I need to go and find where I can get some more with the same really nice soft texture.

This week I have spent a lot of time on new items and replenishing some of my materials. I have a couple new bracelets, earrings, and necklaces (some of which have already been listed this week)! I have also been thinking of including tutorials for some of the items I have made. And I am ecstatically happy to announce that I have had two more sales this month! But you may already know that if you follow me on Facebook or Twitter. :)

I am 28 today! Travis and I are going to our favorite monthly restaurant, a Thai place called Chili Basil. We usually get takeout on the 11th of every month (sometimes more, shhhh!) but today we will be sitting at the restaurant. It is a small place but the food is really good.

Thanks for reading!
